Member-only story
So, in one of my previous posts, I write about the electric stove my husband purchased and how I’m supposed to learn all these recipes to try out on my brand new stove.
Well, it’s here. The stove has arrived…I swear, I had family members calling me to keep track of the stove shipping. I know it should not be a big deal, but for my family, hot damn it is. You see, I’m not much of a cook, and I have said it since I was like 14-I refused to be in the kitchen all day long. Not that I don’t know how to do it, it’s just not “fun” for me. I don’t like taking pictures of my food, the ingredients, or the process of how you mix things and ta-da! I’m just not that person. Being a Mexican daughter raised by Mexican parents in a traditional Mexican household, you can just imagine the big no-no this is. Not only am I a disappointment in the kitchen, but I get the daily reminders that I need to “learn” how to properly cook. Anyways, long story short, I got the stove and now people want results.
At first, I went along with it, laughing and making jokes. What else? I’ve explained to everyone and their mother that cooking is not for me. I’d rather go to Don Pico’s and order some nice fajitas for one and two margaritas and call it a night. It was all fine and games before…… I don’t know when the changed happened, but now I’m expected to cook. For good, for 7 days a week. Like who does that? Anyway, I know there are some awesome moms out there making it happen, but that’s not me.
